Upon a change in strategy, a leading UK property company decided to recruit Retail Park Managers for each of their UK sites to add further value to tenants, customers, and stakeholders. The transformation would drive an increase in positive customer experience, dwell-time, average spend and tenant satisfaction and retention.
Given their existing partnership and success across their shopping centre portfolio with Foundation Recruitment, the property company came to us to support with their hiring strategy. As a high-value initiative for the business, they required a recruitment partner who understood their market, culture, unique workforce needs and had an extensive UK wide talent network fit for the candidate profile.
As the property company was looking to hire Retail Store Managers across the UK, they needed to slightly vary briefs dependent on the site, location, catchment area and demographic in order to find the perfect candidates. Each individual also needed to possess the suitable skills required to successfully ease the transition and engender the expected added value for all stakeholders.
Their portfolio of existing candidates was geographically diverse, but the property company were struggling to access talent in the more remote locations. There was also difficulty in attracting a diverse range of individuals from varying age groups.
After taking time to fully understand their business objectives and strategy, we finalised together what the ideal candidate would look like and we went away to create the brief to cater to the agreed profile. As a time-sensitive project that required a fast turnaround, our team wanted to ensure that no time was wasted and that only the right candidates were shortlisted for interview. We achieved this via effective screening and getting to know our candidates before presenting them to the business, which we believe is key.
In the end, at least 75% of CVs sent across for each role were interviewed and resulted in 12 Retail Park Managers UK wide being recruited, all from a store management background and within the space of 2 months.
