A Mobile World

95% of households own a mobile phone. If your website isn’t mobile-friendly, you’re at risk of missing a massive pool of potential candidates.

Mobile browsing is increasing rapidly. On our website alone from 2017 to 2018, mobile usage increased by 22%. We know our website audience is predominantly candidates and it’s interesting to see that 53% of our website visits are from a mobile phone or tablet. This statistic supports research conducted by ‘the undercover recruiter’ which states 45% of job seekers search for jobs daily on a mobile device.

Looking deeper into our website behaviour, we have analysed the percentage of applications from mobile devices. Interestingly, although job searching is high on mobile, applications via mobile devices this year account for just one-third of total applicants. This suggests, although job seekers are happy searching on their mobile, they are more comfortable, confident and compelled to apply on a desktop.

It is key to be visible and have the ability to engage with candidates on any device, this way you can communicate your brand and job opportunities to a much wider audience and capture their response on their preferred device/method. We want candidates to be able to find the best opportunities wherever they are searching and make the process of applying as easy and succinct as possible.

According to LinkedIn, 70% of the global workforce is passive. That said, even though this pool of professionals isn’t actively looking for a new role, it doesn’t mean they’re not open to hearing about new opportunities. This means, as a recruitment company, we need to work smarter and utilise all tools available to ensure all job opportunities are visible.

The digital world is transforming the way in which people go about their daily lives. There is constantly a new way of working or operating that makes processes faster, more efficient and ultimately, more engaging. What may have been engaging two years ago won’t necessarily interest your audience today. The world is evolving at pace and it is vital to keep up to stay relevant and grow with the best talent in the market!
