Managing Director – Private Property Company

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a hugely ambitious, privately owned property company/developer as it embarks upon the next phase of its growth. Reporting into the Founders, the new role of Managing Director has been created as part of a wider restructuring of the company, to enable agile and committed expansion into development within the light industrial sector.

Our retained client has over 25 years successful track record within the UK commercial real estate market. Over the last 3+ years they have been strategically driving towards the creation and UK wide new build roll out of a light industrial business park, format of circa 1500 -5000 sqft depending upon location, site density etc. The first 2 developments have been successfully delivered and met with immediate success. With significant cash allocated for the development programme and an already ongoing asset disposal program to recycle capital, the company is in a very strong position to fund development for the next 3-5 years. If further cash is required to match heightened demand, that can be injected. Gearing is not considered necessary as further equity will be made available as completed developments become income generating.

The business is looking to hire an exceptional MD to deliver this programme and furthermore lead the team in the operational asset management of the retained portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible – with an established team – for site acquisition, planning, development and leasing and the overall performance of the business.

A background in light industrial / logistics development and/or investment would be advantageous and this must be complimented with a proven track record in successful, strategic asset management. Construction experience is not required.

Due to the intended autonomy of the role, but the required regular interaction with Founders, we are looking for high emotional intelligence, strong reporting and organisational skills and an accomplished communication style.

The plan for the company is to seek to create a recognised, market leading format and there is genuinely no limit on the appetite to growth. As such this should be viewed as a role that will continue to grow, expand and provide challenge along with the companies expansion.

A highly attractive salary and annual bonus scheme will be available. As yet undefined equity participation is a possibility, linked to performance criteria.
